One NZ Head Office
Project Overview
After seven years at Smales Farm in Takapuna, One NZ’s relocation to Wynyard Quarter presented a rare opportunity to reimagine what a workplace could feel like. Designed by STACK Interiors, the new office was conceived as a space where wellbeing, productivity, and genuine collaboration could thrive, guided by a vision that draws deeply from Aotearoa’s natural landscape. At the heart of that vision was a simple but ambitious goal: to create a workplace that felt ‘better than home’ — somewhere people genuinely wanted to be, where comfort, connection, and performance could coexist.
That vision centres on biophilic design: bringing the outside in through natural materials, organic textures, and colours drawn from the land. But this is still a technology company, and the interiors needed to carry the precision and sharpness that identity demands. The result is a workspace that holds both things in balance, where the clean lines of a modern tech environment are softened and grounded by the palette and rhythms of the natural world.
Interface carpet tiles play a central role in carrying that story through the space. Across the open office areas, Cap Rock paired with E611 evokes native riverbeds, with tonal variation of stone and rock and pebbled texture dispersed throughout, creating a sense of movement and calm. In the hallways and meeting rooms known internally as the “Tunnel of Light,” Zera in the colourway Pine introduces something deeper: the rich, luminous quality of pounamu. It’s a fitting choice for spaces designed around connection, echoing a taonga that has long symbolised relationship and shared purpose.
Interface’s product range made it possible to achieve this level of design intent without compromise. Their carpet tiles are engineered for high-traffic commercial environments, offering proven durability and confidence in performance for ten years and beyond. Just as importantly, Interface’s Carbon Neutral Floors programme and ongoing progress toward a fully circular business model mean that every tile specified contributes to a lower environmental footprint. It is this combination of design breadth, material innovation, and genuine sustainability credentials that made Interface the right choice for a project of this calibre.
The finished project is a testament to what becomes possible when design intent, material integrity, and sustainability come together. Every surface contributes to a workplace that feels unmistakably of this place, connected to the whenua, and built to last.
