Closure of AGM Publishing

05/06/2026 2 min read

The announcement of the closure of AGM Publishing marks a profoundly sad moment for New Zealand’s architecture and design industry.
For over 40 years, AGM has been a cornerstone of architectural discourse and design culture in Aotearoa – producing respected publications including Architecture NZ, the widely read ArchitectureNow weekly digest, and the much-admired Interior Awards program, which would have reached its 15th year in 2026.

As a consistent advertiser with Architecture NZ for over 20 years and a founding sponsor of the Interior Awards from its very beginning, Inzide is deeply saddened by this news.
Over the years, both Architecture NZ and the Interior Awards became an important platform for recognising the very best of New Zealand interior architecture and design. More than simply celebrating beautiful spaces, the program championed innovation, materiality, storytelling, sustainability, cultural expression, and the evolving ways we live, work, learn, and connect.

The Interior Awards evenings themselves became treasured moments within the industry calendar – bringing together architects, designers, suppliers, clients, and creatives in celebration of design excellence across Aotearoa.

The closure of AGM leaves a significant void within our industry, and our thoughts are with everyone affected by this loss. However, amidst the heartbreak, we also recognise the importance of continuing to support credible and inspiring platforms that advocate for outstanding New Zealand design and foster meaningful industry connection.

With that in mind, Inzide is proud to announce our partnership with Nook Publishing – publishers of Home of Architecture and the brand-new Architecture Aotearoa, whose inaugural print edition will launch in June 2026. We are honoured to continue our longstanding support of New Zealand’s architecture and interiors community as a proud sponsor of Home of Architecture and Architecture Aotearoa’s Interior of the Year awards.

While one important chapter closes, we remain optimistic about the future of architectural publishing, design storytelling, and industry recognition in Aotearoa.

To Nathan Inkpen and the team at AGM – thank you for your extraordinary contribution to New Zealand architecture and design over the past four decades. Your legacy will endure through the projects, people, and conversations you helped elevate.
