Flooring Accessories

Interface, Forbo and nora offer a range of accessories designed for performance and ease of installation of their flooring systems.

Interface have two adhesive systems;  InterTac Plus, a low-VOC option with anti-microbial and mould inhibitor Intersept protection, and TacTiles, a glue-free system ideal for heritage buildings and applications where a floating installation is required.

Underlays like Forbo’s Sarlibase Acoustic, Sarlibase TE moisture barrier and Corkment, enhance acoustic performance or manage moisture for vinyl and linoleum applications. While Interface’s CushionBacRE carpet tile backing offers improved comfort and acoustic performance. Interface’s backing options include GlasBac, CushionBacRE, CQuest Bio (carbon-negative), and SoundChoice for Luxury Vinyl Tile, all have low environmental impact and are compatible with Interface’s ReEntry recycling programme.

Adhesives

  • InterTac Plus adhesive by RLA is a Solvent Free, Low Odour, Low VOC, Pressure Sensitive adhesive formulated for installing Interface Carpet Tiles and Interface Luxury Vinyl Tiles. It allows the flooring to be intentionally lifted at end of life so the flooring can be recovered and recycled through the ReEntry Programme.

InterTac Plus is formulated with Intersept® an natural bicocide which works as a mould inhibitor. The Interface product warranty can be void if an adhesive system other than InterTac™ Pressure Sensitive Adhesive or TacTiles™ is used. This is especially relevant if the requirements specific to your region and the Interface Installation Manual recommendation, in regard to substrate moisture and pH content are not closely followed.

  • We recommend TacTiles connectors for GlasBac® and CQuestBio carpet tiles with different TacTiles available for each backing type. These revolutionary, glue-free adhesive squares adhere tiles to one another and create a “floating” floor. There are no liquid components, so VOCs are virtually eliminated and there is no odor. TacTile connectors let you install carpet almost anywhere, any time. Patented to Interface and used whenever you want a no glue carpet tile installation. Often ideal for temporary flooring and heritage buildings where the subfloor needs to remain original and un-damaged.

Guaranteed to work for the full 15 years with Interface carpet tiles. TactTiles cannot be used with any other brand of carpet tile. The backing formulations of our competitors tiles don’t comply with the TacTile nano-technology at play. TacTiles make it easy for flooring to be intentionally lifted at end of life so the flooring can be recovered and recycled through the ReEntry recycling & re-use Programme.

Underlays

Underlays provide another layer of protection your floors, whether it be for improved acoustic performance or as a moisture barrier, we have solutions.

  • Sarlibase Acoustic is a bonded resilient PVC underlay incorporated with glass fleece reinforcement and a foam backing that provides additional acoustic performance for vinyl and linoleum products. It can be used with Eternal, Surestep, Marmoleum and compact vinyl flooring. This can be installed as a double installation or can be ordered from the factory with the underlay already attached to the Forbo resilient flooring product. Because this product is waterproof it can be used in apartment bathrooms.

  • A specialist solution for perpetually wet substrates

Inzide’s recommendation for a quick vinyl covering appropriate for concrete floors that suffer ongoing moisture issues is Sarlibase TE. Sarlibase TE is a loose lay sheet product that is laid over the concrete substrate in 2m widths. No Adhesive used. The tiny channels in the back of the Sarlibase allow the moisture to find its way to the edge of the sheets where it evaporates away – Any heterogeneous vinyl is adhered over the Sarlibase TE and allows the room to be used straight away.

  • Corkment is an acoustic underlay designed for use with Forbo linoleum (Marmoleum), it is manufactured by calendaring cork granules, oxidised linseed oil and other materials onto a jute backing and then curing it. The process is similar to that for manufacturing linoleum. This can be installed as a double installation or can be ordered from the factory with the underlay already attached to Marmoleum, (Marmoleum Acoustic).

  • CushionBacRE is a high performance PET backing that delivers superior underfoot comfort, best in class dimensional stability and advanced acoustic properties – ideal for application in commercial spaces. CushionBacRE produced with 90% recycled content and is 100% recyclable through the ReEntry programme.

Interface Backings

  • GlasBac, is Interface’s original acoustic vinyl backing that has set the industry standard for performance, recyclability and low carbon footprint. Trusted for over 2 decades this backing is preferred by installers all over the world for its ease of installation. It is also 100% recyclable through the ReEntry programme.

  • CQuestBio, is a backing guided by materials science. Interface added new thinking and innovative new materials to make backings with a much lower carbon footprint. First, Interface added new bio-based materials, and more recycled content to their backings. Then, they measured how these materials influence the carbon footprint. These new materials, measured on a stand-alone basis, are net carbon negative – greatly reducing their carbon footprint of a CQuestBio backed carpet tile.

CQuestBio backing also increases (on average) the recycled and bio-based content of Interface products by 1/3rd to 92.8%. As a result of this, the carbon footprint of products with CQuestBio backing is reduced (on average) by 33.4%. Depending on the quantity of yarn used the net carbon calculation will be determined.

The finished product brings together durability, industry-leading design, and a negative carbon footprint that ultimately benefits the planet and shows that the pursuits of great design and sustainability are inseparable. As with all Interface backings it is 100% recyclable through the ReEntry programme.

  • Designed specifically as the integrated backing for Interface’s 4.5mm LVT collections, the SoundChoice acoustic backing helps reduce unwanted sound much more effectively than other hard surfaces. In particular, it reduces impact sound by 16-19dB to avoid disturbances between floors and rooms. It’s especially useful in multi-storey office buildings, as well as in education, healthcare and hospitality environments. As a standard component of Interface LVT tiles, SoundChoice offers acoustic insulation without the expense of fitting underlays.

Interface LVT due to its 4.5mm thickness matches up perfectly with Interface Carpet Tiles, because of this perfect pairing of heights there is no need a transition bar, allowing for a seamless aesthetic. As with all Interface backings it is 100% recyclable through the ReEntry programme.
