Introducing Karaka Lifestyle Estate, a picturesque retirement village nestled in the tranquil Karaka/Drury area of Auckland. In the ‘Clubhouse’, a beautifully restored 100-year-old homestead in the heart of the estate, residents gather for moments of fun, relaxation, and social events.

Recognizing the importance of enhancing both comfort, safety, and durability for residents within the popular Clubhouse, the team at KLE began a thoughtful renovation with the decision to lay carpet tiles over the original timber flooring in the open-plan lounge and dining areas to provide improved comfort, striving to address acoustic concerns without compromising on the aesthetic integrity of the historic space. Interior designer, Sue Hudson, sought a solution that would seamlessly blend traditional with contemporary. The solution: Interface carpet tile WW890 Dobby in colour Raffia – 250mm x 1000mm planks laid in an ashlar configuration on the CushionBacRE backing that provides superior underfoot comfort and advanced acoustic properties.

This selection was not only driven by the superior acoustic properties of the carpet tiles and backing but also by its timeless aesthetic. The carpet’s intricate stippled design sits harmoniously in the heritage building, while infusing a contemporary flair and visual warmth that resonates with the residents. The neutral multi-toned stipple pattern, that features hues of cream, beige, and subtle black speckles, effortlessly complements the existing colour palette of the Clubhouse interiors, and seamlessly integrates with the furnishings and finishes, creating a harmonious atmosphere in the space.

In addition to enhancing the visual appeal and comfort, Interface's carpet tiles met the practical needs of the space, providing ease of cleaning, infection control, and resistance to daily wear and tear—crucial factors in senior living environments to create welcoming, safe, and cozy environments where residents can comfortably socialize.

Installed in August 2023, the carpet tiles have since garnered unanimous acclaim from both the KLE client group and village residents.

The transformation of Karaka Lifestyle Estate's Clubhouse stands as a testament to meticulous design and unwavering commitment to resident comfort. Inzide is honored to have been part of this journey, providing flooring solutions that elevate the living experience for seniors and contribute to the creation of vibrant, inclusive communities.
