Jasmax, had a common dilemma – their lease was due to expire in two years and it had a make-good clause in it for the carpet. Concurrently the existing broadloom carpet was fraying, coming loose at the seams and around the reception area was very flat due to the foot traffic performance issues within a high traffic commercial office.
To do nothing was not an option aesthetically. They are preeminent architects. To re-carpet in broadloom was not an option financially as two years wear would mean replacing the carpet again.
The answer was a high design, random carpet tile from InterfaceNZ with high recycled content and 100% recyclability of the tile. The random nature of the design means spare tiles can be placed into the flooring at any stage with no noticeable difference to the human eye. Hence the make good provision in the lease is extremely simple to meet.
The owner was very happy to agree to carpet tile given its superior tenant turnaround capability.
Net result, a high design solution meeting the commercial reality of leased buildings.
